No, I’m Not Crazy…Winter’s Coming

No, I’m not crazy

This morning in my quiet time I was given a word.  Doesn’t that sound so hocus-pocus???

Who gave you a word? God?  Holy Spirit? Imagination?

How did they give the word? Phone call?  Text?  Snapchat?

There was a time in my life where I would have totally rolled my eyes if I heard someone talking about receiving a word…religious freak.

But y’all – this morning – in my quiet time as I was reading the Word (not to be confused with the word given 😂) I came across a verse that said – that yields its fruit in its season – and then I envisioned winter and it’s accompanying attributes:

Cold
Snow (somewhere besides Texas)
Frozen ground
Dead plants
Spring preparation.

Winter’s Coming

And I stopped cold (no pun intended 🙃). There’s no preparation – it’s all dead.  The plants, the ground, the land.  Everything stops in the winter.

But winter is temporary – and we know that things aren’t really dead – they’re just hibernating.

And an incredible peace came over me.  Just stop girl.  Enjoy the winter.

I’m not crazy – nor a religious freak – BUT yeah – I do believe God talks to us and gives us words, visions, ideas, peace. I just need to be quiet to hear.  And not so much volume quiet – but brain quiet.  Just listen.

Fun fact: The maple tree needs winter in order to produce syrup.  It needs nights below freezing and days above freezing to pull the sap up the trunk.

Thanks for this reminder that seasons are short, and that God brings spring, and that I need that quiet to listen to Him. It’s beautiful.
