I’ve missed the past two days…partly due to pure exhaustion and lack of band width (have I mentioned I’m in the middle of a move??)…but also because I don’t know what to write…
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Love ➙ Joy ➙ Peace ➙ Patience ➙ Kindness
Kindness, God, Kindness, God…I just don’t know. I don’t usually associate kindness with God. Love, yes. Discipline, yes. Faithful, yes. But not necessarily kindness. Not that He is unkind…but it’s not my first go to adjective/thought.
So I googled kindness and God this evening and came across a Bible verse that used to be one of my favorites but I’ve since forgotten…
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11
I was once called a Berean by someone in the church that I respected greatly…but given my limited theological background, I had no idea what they were talking about…so I had to do some research and then I had to laugh…I was examining the Scriptures for a verse about examining the Scriptures! The point is…we must study our Bible first and foremost. I’m not sure about God and kindness so I must dig deeper…I can read commentaries and articles by people much smarter than me but I must return to Scripture to see if it holds up. I must be a Berean.
Now what does that have to do with kindness? Nothing :) But I do have food for thought for tomorrow’s post.
