So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. — 1 Thessalonians 5:6

This past week our family said goodbye to our beloved Jojo…at 15 years old it was time.  As I reflected on the situation the thought of not getting another dog crossed my mind…why put myself through this pain again?  But that thought was quickly followed by another “It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.”  While I generally do not live by cliches this one comes to mind often.

Perhaps it’s the command to love or the terror of sleep walking through life but it is imperative to keep opening my heart…whether to a new pet, new friends, or existing relationships.

So yeah…this week I said goodbye but I’m sure there is a hello to be said soon.
