Day 7 – Eating My Young

Yesterday wasn’t great.  My sweet darling 16yo continues to look for ways that will result in me eating him alive.  You know that moment when the email is from a teacher and/or caller id on the phone is from the school…the stomach flip…yeah. One of those days.  But for real y’all – I am convicted and convinced that loving rather than eating him is the right course to take but that’s easier said than done when I’m in the thick of things.

Which brings me to my love today – I absolutely ❤️ LOVE ❤️ studying the Bible.  I absolutely love having a book to pick up and get answers.  I love the way that the Lord speaks to me through his Word – mostly.  I’ve been known to throw a temper tantrum a time or two.  Now…I’m not talking about randomly opening and reading verses…it does take an investment of time and energy but the dividends are enormous. Let me share a couple of my favorite, life line verses right now in this season of motherhood:

“My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9

My daily go-to right now…hello!  I’ve never felt more powerless in my life as I do lately.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

Ever felt worn out? Like you’re carrying the world on your shoulders? How beautiful – rest for your souls – sigh.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

My all-time favorite verse and promise. By dedicating my life to the Lord – no matter what happens – even if it all goes to hell in a hand basket – I will worship Him and I am His.
