Be Brave – Be Authentic

It’s that time of year – time to write 31 days IN A ROW during the month of October. Oy – always a challenge but I love the stretch and I believe these 31 day opportunities have shaped me into a better writer.

This year I want to write about bravery, joy, trust, authenticity, and rising strong.  I read a lot and this year’s writing will be influenced much by my studies of Brené BrownAnn Voskamp, Glennon Doyle Melton.

However, I’m gonna say on the onset that I’m a little afraid.  Sometimes, when you become willing to explore and change, you are given opportunities to do so – lol – but seriously – better to be tossed in the surf than only have my toes on the beach shore.

AND, just in case, if you’re thinking/wondering that I’m writing from a place where everything is hunky dory and “sure, that’s easy for you to say” – rest assured – my mind, my emotions, my very essence is being stretched beyond capacity in this season.  Let me give you an example – you know that favorite go-to four letter word that begins with F and ends in K – frankly, it’s a favorite of mine right now and goes something like this…

Now, of course, I don’t necessarily say it out loud – that would be uncouth and immature – but I think it frequently and it often proceeds my more rational and mature thoughts.

The point is, don’t assume anything about anyone.  EVERYONE you meet is fighting a struggle of some sort.  Everything I write, I NEED TO HEAR…so please don’t assume I have it all together – quite the contrary – but DO BELIEVE this – I am giving this life everything I have.  I will keep trying, I will keep getting up, I will keep growing, striving, improving, and keeping on.  AND, by writing it down and sharing, I’m inviting you on the journey with me – life really is better with friends.

The challenge begins 10/1 – If you’re reading this in September and you want to join, let’s talk – I would love some company!
