Worthy

Is it WORTH it?

What is IT?

What is worth?  Valuable? Something desired? Noble?

I think it goes along the lines of beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  What is worthy to me may not be worth much to you.

Are you familiar with the  Matthew McConaughey best actor speech video where he gives his speech about his three principals.

Something to look up to – something to look forward to – and something to chase.

He goes on to say that the person he chases is his future self.  He acknowledges that his future self can never be attained and that’s his point – always striving, always chasing.

But I disagree – as if it really matters – lol

We make decisions every single day determining what is worthy.  Is the gym worth it? Is the breakfast choice worth it? Is holding my tongue worth it?  I think the real hero is our present self to our future self.  Think about it – every day we make decisions that impact our future self… BLINDLY in most cases.  There is no guarantee that we’ll even be alive in 10 years – much less an idea of what the world or our lives will look like in the future – but we still have to make decisions that IMPACT that future.  How we interact with our loved ones… how we interact with our co-workers…  how we spend our time and money.  All those decisions come down to a specific idea – the decisions we make today create the life we’ll have in the future – is it worth it to try hard? To keep striving? To keep the faith?

How true it is that, more often than not, we make choices, especially during times of intense emotions, without considering their potentially long-term impact. While we do not want to be paralyzed by indecision or fear about the potential long-term impact of our decisions, I can see value in at least being aware, as one writer noted, that “Decisions have descendants.” Thank you for your post, Donna. Visiting from FMF.

“The decisions we make today create the life we’ll have in the future”
How true, and God knows the end from the beginning and orders our steps. It gets complicated at times, but He weaves His will and accomplishes His plan through all of it. Visiting #66. Enjoyed this post.
