Day 7 – Test

five-minute-friday-4It’s 5-minute Friday – that means you set the timer and you have 5 minutes to get your point across – it’s HIIT for the mind and creativity – yikes.

Today’s topic is Test…

I have, in the past, seen my tenure as a mom in a test/competitive way.  How many times do we compare our skills/schedules/family life to others?  Sometimes it is good to learn from others like the years I spent in MOPS – forever grateful because I learned how to be a godly mom there.  But we all know that at other times is a madhouse out there comparing ourselves.

More importantly – we take our children and let them be our report cards – kids good, I’m good.  Kids ace test – whew.  Kid in college – whew.  Kid struggle – yikes.  Letting ourselves be judged by our kids behavior is dangerous territory for sure.

How about you? Can you relate?  Are you grading yourself on the tests your child is going through?

Admittedly, I’ve done this as well. I love your line when you said, “We take our children and let them be our report cards.” Thank you for bringing to light something many of us tend to do.
