Day 23 – Look Back

trails_signWhew – Day 23 and that means we’re on the home stretch last week.  I was looking over the days already written and was struck, yet again, how beneficial it is to take a step back to see our progress.  If we stay in the forest we only see the day to day trees but when we find ourselves able to look back we’re amazed at how far we’ve come…it’s happened a many of times out on a trail but also in life.

Today, I had a dear friend of mine visit from Indianapolis – we’ve haven’t seen each other in years and years – but being with her today, I had that jarring realization that I’m so not the same person I was back then…I’ve grown and changed so much.  It was a great reminder and great seeing her again.

“Forget the past, it’s gone, but glance back occasionally to remind yourself where you came from and where you are going.”
― Chloe Thurlow, A Girl’s Adventure

I’ve written much about growing, trying, striving, reading, studying, stretching, being brave, praying, seeking, going, going, going, doing, doing, doing and I will maintain that all of that is necessary – when we stop paying attention and growing, we stop really being alive…we’re reduced to existing.  But then, of course, if we never stop and look back to appreciate our progress it’ll all be for naught.

Happy Sunday y’all,
