I had the pleasure this past week to spend vacation in Hawaii – what an adventure! Ironically while there I received an email from MindBodyGreen with an article titled 8 Powerful Life Lessons Hawaii Can Teach Us About Happiness and was intrigued.  While I didn’t necessarily agree with everything in the article it was a nice break from the intense, productivity driven, effective enhancing articles I usually fill my head with…it was a perfectly fluffy article for the particular vacation I was enjoying.

As I reflected on the article thoughts and how different the mindset was from my usual fare, I was reminded of Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

And while this Bible verse is certainly referring to filling your mind with the things of God its wisdom can be applied to all areas of your life…what are you filling your mind up with?  Are you building up, edifying, growing, striving, etc or are you just existing and being passive and taking whatever is given?

I encourage you today to examine your routines and how you spend your time and make changes if necessary. And certainly spend time at the feet of your Lord, read His Word and let Him be the source of your transformation. And finally, embrace today…live in the here and now and don’t waste a moment!

Aloha!  DM
